Dr Shengyu Wang is Associate Curator at the University Museum and Art Gallery, The University of Hong Kong. Previously she was Associate Curator at the Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM).
She was a China Oxford Scholarship Fund awardee with a DPhil in archaeology from the University of Oxford, focusing on auspicious ornament and art in early China. She double-majored in Museology and Chinese Literature in Peking University as an undergraduate.
Dr Wang made curatorial contributions to the opening exhibitions at HKPM in 2022, and co-led special exhibitions, including “Gazing at Sanxingdui: New Archaeological Discoveries in Sichuan” (2023) and “The Origins of Chinese Civilization” (2024 – 2025). She has lectured and written on art institutions and collective memories in mainland China, Hong Kong, and the UK. She was also involved in exhibitions and catalogue projects at the Shanghai Museum and The University of Oxford’s Ashmolean Museum, and has participated in archaeological excavations in China and the UK.
